Seasonal Coffee Artist Series: Summer With Alexandra Ekstrom
by Daria Toptygina on Jun 20, 2024
Alexandra Ekstrom is no stranger to Equator Coffee Roasters. As our former Graphic Designer & Outreach Coordinator, sheโs designed several of our unique merch offerings for T-shirts, crewnecks, and tote bags!ย
We enthusiastically welcome Alexandra back, this time as part of our Seasonal Coffee Artist Series, with her refreshing label for our summer blend.
Seasonal Coffee Artist: Alexandra Ekstromย
Alexandra Ekstrom is a graphic designer and illustrator specializing in branding for women-owned small businesses.
โMy favourite clients are small businesses, run by folks who are passionate about what they do and work incredibly hard to do it.โ โ Alexandra
Her own freelance work tends to feature animals, astrology, and all sorts of cute things!
For this season, Alexandra shared with us her digital optical illusion artwork of a relaxed woman lying in (or on) a swimming pool holding onto a donut floatation deviceโฆ that also happens to be her body!
If you follow Alexandra on Instagram, you may recognize the summer blend label artwork as a post from April 11, 2021, only it was animated and had the caption, โJust kickinโ it,โ as the woman in the design was kicking her leg up and down. What a perfect way to capture the chill, sweet vibes of our new coffee!
To keep up to date on Alexandraโs work, you can follow her on Instagram @specificdreamrabbiit.
And if you have any questions for our talented artist, you can contact her at: alexandra.l.ekstrom@gmail.com
You can find Alexandraโs art on our Equator Summer Blend coffee. It is available for purchase in-stores and online from June 20th until September 19th. Kick off your summer with a kickinโ brew!
Tasting Notes And Flavors
This mixed process summer seasonal coffee is a blend that comes from Ethiopia, located in the Shebedino District of the Sidama region as per the Howolso cooperative that works with the Sidama Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union (1), and Congo, specifically from the shores of Lake Kivu as per the Solidarite pour la Promotion des Actions Cafe et le Developpement Integral (or SOPACDI) cooperative (2). It is one of our lightest roasts with a roast level of 2. Enjoy the playful tasting notes of berries, black tea, and brown sugar as you soak in the dog days of summer. Keep it hot with a clean cup from a pour over brewer or make your own cold brew and sip on this coffee all day!
The Seasonal Coffee Artist Series invites local talent to be featured on bags of Equator Coffee. Changing with every season, each limited edition coffee blend label will feature the season-related art of one artist or designer selected by Equator from the diverse communities connected to our coffee. Inquiries regarding submissions can be sent to outreach@equator.ca
