As a fair trade coffee company, our goal is and has always been to do good through our business. We exist to promote a world that is more fair, more inclusive, and characterized by respect towards others. There is no place for hatred or bigotry of any kind at Equator Coffee Roasters.
We actively support marginalized individuals and communities, without discrimination, in Canada and in countries and communities where we source our coffee beans at fair prices.
We are appalled by the hatred and abuse faced by far too many people in the LGBTQ+ community. We stand in solidarity with those who have endured unfair, unkind, and inhumane treatment. We are also committed to ensuring that our support for community events and organizations reflect these company values.
Equator Inclusion Statement:
For our coffee roasting company, social justice is a prime motivating factor for why we do what we do. We wish to apply social justice as it pertains to how we hire, how we speak and how we welcome people to participate in our business. In all aspects of our organization, we challenge assumptions, patterns and our existing world views in order to include everyone and welcome all people as they are and how they peacefully wish to live. We believe that all people are unique and valuable.
We are committed to building a community that accepts and invites people of any age, gender, race, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability, ethnicity and religion to join us in creating a socially diverse community that respects and values each other. We exist to promote a world that is more fair, more inclusive, and characterized by respect towards others.
In 2019, Equator Coffee joined companies like Danone, Ben & Jerry's and Pantagonia Works, in becoming a Certified B Corporation. Certified B Corporations are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose.
