Juliana Reyes is an artist through and through. You might have seen her making the rounds at beloved local vendor markets like the Arlington Art Market or 613flea. Fortunately, we get to showcase some of her artwork while she’s off completing her masters in Spain for the year (for which we wish her luck!).
We are happy to welcome Juliana, the Owner and Founder of Orchid, as part of our Seasonal Coffee Artist Series with her woodsy label fitting for our fall blend.
Seasonal Coffee Artist: Juliana Reyes
Juliana Reyes may be based in Ottawa, but her inspiration comes from Colombia.
“Colombia is the country with the most amount of bird species in the world and [I] want to show this off by honoring their beautiful colours!” – Juliana
Her motto is: “Carry art everywhere you go,” which she does by drawing inspiration from the colours of Colombian birds with each of her illustrated pieces.
“Each print represents the colours of a different bird.”
For Juliana, it’s always more about the journey than the destination. It’s about enjoying the process.
“There’s something so magical in starting to see the colors fall into place. Reminder: It’s okay to like the process better than the end result.”
If you follow Juliana on Instagram, you may recognize the fall blend label artwork as The Chilacoa from a post that was made back in October 21st, 2020, with the following caption:
"All illustrations are based on the colours of Colombian birds and their beautiful feathers, this piece is inspired by the Grey-necked Wood Rail. Soon this illustration on all Orchid products"
If you look closely at the earthy tones of the artwork, you may start to find the soothing colors parting to reveal the silhouette of a woman’s face looking off to the left.

Her wonderful artwork is available on her website here in a variety of vibrant ways for you to enjoy, including as art prints featured in many sizes, iPhone cases, scrunched headbands, select paintings, scrunchies, gorgeous silk satin scarves to stay fashionable this fall season, and relaxed fit white cotton T-shirts with your choice of the design printed on the front or on the back.
You can find Juliana's art on our Equator Fall Blend coffee. It is available for purchase in-stores and online from September 19th until December 12th (so it’ll still be kicking around by the time you start thinking about holiday shopping for your coffee-loving loved ones!).
Tasting Notes And Flavors
This washed process fall seasonal coffee is a blend with a medium roast level of 4 that comes from Sumatra, Kokowagayo, and the remote western town of Jacaltenango, Guatemala, thanks to The Cooperativa Agricola y de Servicios Varios Rio Azul (1). As the air grows cooler this fall season, take a moment to savor the sips of warm cinnamon, salted caramel, and bright cherries you’ll get from these expertly-roasted beans. Why not try it with the Aeropress and enjoy a cup outside before it gets too cold?
The Seasonal Coffee Artist Series invites local talent to be featured on bags of Equator Coffee. Changing with every season, each limited edition coffee blend label will feature the season-related art of one artist or designer selected by Equator from the diverse communities connected to our coffee. Inquiries regarding submissions can be sent to outreach@equator.ca
