Event Coordinator- Summer Internship/Co-op Position

Equator Coffee Roasters is an Ontario-based, mission-driven coffee roasting company from the friendly town of Almonte, Ontario. We exist to connect the coffee drinker to the coffee farmer, from one family to another. We believe the world is a better place with better coffee that is sourced ethically and cared for organically. About:

• Summer Internship or Co-op Position
• 16 week placement starting May 1 to end of August 21 (potentially until the end of August)
• Based out of Almonte Roastery - Vehicle Required to Visit other Cafes and Off-Site Events.
• Eligible work placements must be a requirement as part of the student's college or university study plan. This can include co-operative education, internships, field placements and applied research projects. The work placement as part of the student's study plan will be verified when confirming student eligibility.
• The events coordinator will report to the marketing Coordinator.

Tasks Include:

• Develop strategies and plans for summer events internally, and external community events (farmers market, music nights in the cafes, barista competitions, etc).
• Identify the goals of the events, and their expected outcomes.
• Coordinating the event from start to end.
• Resource management, finding the right team to help run the events.
• Communicating with stakeholders of important event details like marketing and café managers.
• Manage a budget for each event.
• Run the events the day of, leading the team, and guiding the flow of the events.
• Help with creation of marketing material like posters or banners.
• Festival and Event Participation, including coordinating booths, providing product and offering product demos and tasting and planning Equator-hosted/sponsored local events.

Qualifications:

• Team player, helpful and motivated
• Excellent communication skills
• Organized - good time management and ability to multitask.
• Positive, warm, friendly attitude willing to go above and beyond!
• Must have a vehicle and a valid driver's license.
• Great communicator

Terms and Compensation:

• Hours: full time (35-40 hours per week)
• Must be available to work weekend or evenings.
• Length: 16 weeks (co-op)
• Wages: $17-18 / hour depending on experience/abilities
