French Press
watch videoThe French Press
The French Press is simple to use, cost-effective, and brews a great pot of coffee.
Step 1: Boil Water
Any kettle will do, but we love a goose-neck kettle like the Bonavita one pictured here.
Step 2: Warm up your French Press
Pour some hot water in your french press, swirl it around, and discard.
Step 3: Measure and grind your beans
You'll want to coarsely grind nice, fresh coffee beans. For 8 cups of brewed coffee, measure out 56g of coffee and 32 oz of hot water. Click here for our full chart and ratios.
Step 4: Brew Coffee
Add ground coffee to French Press and pour just off-the-boil water over top. You can loosely place the plunger of the french press on top. Wait for 4 minutes.
Step 5: Plunge and enjoy!
Apply firm, even pressure to the the plunger and push down until it reaches the bottom. Leaving the plunger pushed down, you can now pour your coffee directly into your mug, or into a separate decanter.
Brewing Guide
The chart below is a quick how-to for any brewing equipment you may have at home. Ever wondered how to use Chemex (we can’t help you with your Instagram, but we can definitely help you get the most out of your beans!)?
