We are continuing this month of brewing tips and tricks by helping you choose the perfect coffee for your preferences and needs!
Here are three simple questions that you can ask yourself when choosing a coffee:
1. Purpose - Why do you drink coffee?
The purpose of coffee has changed and shifted through the years. Some drink coffee for the baseline caffeine hit, others drink it as their everyday ritual, and some for the pleasure and experimentation. Figuring out why you drink coffee will help you narrow down what you like and what you want in your coffee. For example, if you drink coffee for pleasure and experimentation, you might be more open to trying something fruity, floral, or funky. But if you drink coffee mainly for the daily ritual you might want to consider a smooth daily driver that you can sip all day long!
2. Profile - What do you like to taste/experience when drinking your coffee?
Light roast, medium or dark? Smooth mouth feel or more acidity in the body of your coffee? Do you like fruity, chocolatey, nutty, floral, all of these are great questions to ask yourself when choosing the perfect coffee for you! Not every person is the same and not every coffee is the same, so understanding your preference in flavour and feel is a great way to narrow down your favourites! For example, if you like a lighter brighter, more fruit forward coffee, you might want to try something like our Ethiopia Sidama single origin, or if you like a medium to dark coffee with a smooth chocolaty flavour profile you could try Outlier.
3. Practicality - How do you like to drink your coffee?
Do you like to drink your coffee black? With Milk or cream? Sugar? Or a latte? These are all great questions to answer when choosing a coffee to drink! Some coffees are roasted for specific brewing methods, while others pair better or worse with things like dairy or other additives. Figuring out how you plan to drink your coffee will ultimately help you make the best decision!
Although there are many factors that you could consider, these are some of the basics that will help you choose the perfect coffee for you.
