Pour Over

Stylish, low-tech, and brews amazing coffee, the pour over is a fantastic method for tasting the coffee and all its nuance.

Step 1: Boil your water.

Any kettle will do, but we love a goose-neck kettle like the Bonavita one pictured here.

Step 2: Rinse Filter

If using a V60 dipper, place it over your mug or pitcher and place the filter inside. If using a Chemex, place the filter in the top. Slowly pour boiled water all over the filter until no dry patches remain. Discard rinse water.

Step 3: Grind your beans

You'll want to coarsely grind nice, fresh coffee beans. For 4 cups of brewed coffee, measure out 32g of coffee and 20oz of hot water. Click here for our full chart and ratios.

Step 4: Bloom and brew!

Pour ground coffee into filter. Pour in about 50g of hot water over the grounds and stir until all grounds are saturated. Let bloom for about 30 seconds before continuing. Continue to pour water in 100g increments, starting in the center and spiraling outwards in a slow continuous motion.

Step 5: Pour and enjoy!

Pour coffee into your favourite mug, take in the beautiful aroma, and enjoy.
